Welcome to Moorfield Mountain Farm

Nature Reserve offering accommodation, camping, retreats and activities in stunning scenery

Moorfield Mountain Farm offers visitors superb walks into its hills and old forest, as well as clambering, swimming and fishing in the waterfalls and pools of the valley and kloof of the Ncandu River.

Nature lovers and researchers also enjoy spending time at Moorfield to appreciate the beauty and biodiversity of the flora and fauna on the reserve, as do those who just enjoy spending quiet time in nature to retreat from the busy world in which we live for a while. School parties and other groups looking for a venue for retreats of any kind are also very welcome. We have an events / conference room that can seat up to 50 people comfortably.

About Us

In 2015, Thomas and Sonnya Holtz became the new owners of Moorfield Mountain Farm. They continue to run it as a guest farm with overnight accommodation for up to 25 people and facilities for camping and day visitors.

Our History

Moorfield has long been recognised as primarily a Nature Reserve because of its rich and unpolluted flora and wildlife. It was first recognised by the then Surveyor-General of Natal, who built the Tin House back in the 1890’s.
